History
In 1996, Philip Sutton, a neonatal technician at the John Radcliffe Hospital, asked us to design a fixed orifice flowmeter for very low flows of oxygen. The traditional ball-in-glass type flowmeters the neonatal unit had been using were not reliable at flows below 100 cc/min because of varying supply pressure and static build up in the graduated tube.
It took us until 2000 to perfect our micro flowmeter, but in so doing we have solved the long standing problem of providing a consistent, repeatable flow of oxygen that allows accurate weaning of the infant from their oxygen dependency.
